City makers. Serious games (participatory workshop)

Wednesday 26 & Friday 28 April, 10h00-17h00 at De Andere Markt (Hoefstadstraat 27, Genk)

Serious games are increasingly present in the daily work of city experts, regulators, urban designers and architects. The City Makers workshops contribute to this growing  field of city making by creating room for dialogue between policy-makers and citizens and challenge the role of people in how can the city be planned otherwise.

City Makers is an initiative started by UHasselt and partners in order to create a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building. The workshops are organised as interactive learning experiences that test  to what extent can we give shape to the otherwise— how can people grow into active agents for change in city making becoming more than passive observers? As such, games have the capacity to give insight on the process of approaching a common stake in the shared space: social and built.
