meso-utopia (open discussion and participation)
Jon Geib
Tuesday 25 April*, 9h00-10h00 at Z33

In a cognitive sense, we will realize a meso-utopia during the Open School.  TRADERS Researcher Jon Geib, in dialogue with Cristina Ampatzidou of Amateur Cities and Open School visitors, will be engaged in a process of making a physical, three-dimensional mindmap of the tentative and unresolved concept of meso-utopia.  To do this the concept of utopia is resurrected and hung upside down in a new hybrid structure configured by connections and disjunctures between theory, case studies, our subjectivities as researchers/visitors and delightful and nagging incidentals such as the human—”all-too-human”—condition and the stickiness of tape (or other material affordances/constraints).  The mindmapping process will start from a selection of Amateur Cities’ case studies and be open for dialogue and participation throughout.

*Open discussion and participation in meso-utopia will take place ongoing during the following dates and hours: 21 – 25 April (10h00-17h00).
